Thank you for attending our monthly eCooking Community of Practice dialogue session on “Consumer Financing for eCooking Appliances’’. This virtual webinar was scheduled for 26th November 2024 from 11 am (EAT) was co-organized by Gamos East Africa (GAMEA), Kenya Power (KPLC), Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK), and African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), and supported by the Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) Programme
Consumer Financing of eCooking Appliances is a study done under the eCooking Capacity Building & Market Development programme (eCAP) which was implemented by Kenya Power in Collaboration with the Modern Energy Cooking Services Programme (MECS) working under the United Kingdom Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme to accelerate the uptake of electric cooking (eCooking) in Kenya, the work was also co-funded by Integrate 2 Zero.
During this session, Mr. Geoffrey Mburu the Co-Founder &CEO PowerPay Africa & GIVE LTD took us through the study findings from this study that aimed to explore the impact of demand stimulation through a credit mechanism on several key areas: the adoption of eCooking and eMobility among Kenya Power clients targeted by marketing and awareness campaigns, adherence to loan terms and conditions, with a focus on credit metrics such as collection rates and receivables at risk; the effects of uptake on household expenditures, power consumption, and demand growth; and the benefits for women, who primarily manage household cooking responsibilities.
