We set out to transition two schools in less than two weeks: one from traditional firewood to a solar-electric cooking system, and the other to a forced-draft biomass gasifier system.

While electric cook stoves are such impressive equipment, the most crucial findings were not about stove design, circuits, or heating elements. They were surprisingly human-centric, low-tech, and rooted in behavior.

Whilst several years ago, Kenya was very much the epicenter of the new wave of eCooking, insights from its regional counterparts show that each country has advanced on its own journey and today, exciting developments are popping up across the region.

The KNeCS bridges the gap between electrification and clean cooking sectoral policies. It positions eCooking as a new solution to the clean cooking challenge, as well as a critical driver of demand for utilities, mini-grid developers and solar home system companies.

The desire to serve my community while making a positive impact led me to start this business. Despite the initial skepticism about the relatively new technology, I was determined to learn and explore its vast potential.
