This project addresses these gaps in line with the Kenya National Cooking Transition Strategy (KNCTS), the Kenya Energy Transition and Investment Plan (ETIP), and the Kenya National eCooking Strategy (KNeCS). It supports the Government of Kenya’s goal of universal clean cooking access by 2030.

Currently collaborating with Rockefeller, CLASP and EcoBora to pilot eCooking appliances in a school involved in a feeding program. Previously implemented projects with Kenya Power Institute of Energy Studies & Research (IESR) and also with SNV Kenya in testing large Electric Pressure Cookers (EPCs) in schools and hospitals, showing significant cost, time, and water savings over traditional cooking methods.

The Sunsafe Project implemented in collaboration with Strathmore University focuses on delivering a solution for ensuring that solar systems can be appropriately sized to deliver safe, cost-effective solutions to off-grid locations.

Traditional biomass fuels, such as wood and charcoal, account for over 80% of the primary energy supply and are the primary cooking fuels for over 90% of households and institutions in Sub Saharan Africa.
